NEW REFUND POLICY
 
It is notified for the information of general public that Pakistan Railways has amended the rules regarding refund on unused ticket with immediate effect. The new rules are as under:-

1.

100% Refund will be allowed up to 48 hrs ( 2 days ) before departure of train.

2.

90%   Refund is allowed between 24 and 48 hrs before departure of train.

3.

75%   Refund is allowed if tickets are returned within 24 hrs before departure of train.

4.

Refund maximum up to 50% in case the ticket is returned within 3 hrs after departure of train. In all such cases tickets will be deposited with Station Master / Booking Office concerned within three hrs after departure of the train and will obtain a ticket collection receipt in lieu  thereof. Thereafter, the applicant will be approach the Divisional Superintendent concerned or Office of the Chief Commercial Manager / Passenger to lodge his claim  for refund and the same will be decided by the competent authority.

5.

No Refund is allowed on lost / mislaid tickets.

   
Note :-   (i)

Full refund is allowed, without any deductions uptil the departure of the train, on tickets purchased on Cash Vouchers and by the Government Officer.

     
 

(ii)

50% Refund is allowed in case the tickets are returned within three hours after departure of train procedure will be the same as indicated vide item 4 above. On tickets purchased on cash vouchers  and by the Government Officer.

The Divisional Superintendent must ensure that the passengers do not have to wait for days and hours for getting their refund. Such cases of refund may be finalized within and hour. In this respect a Standard Operating Procedure will be issued soon.
 
It has further been directed by the Ministry of Railways that the impact of the same may be monitored minutely for three months and if the same is required to be reviewed, detailed comments may be be communicated to this office, for onward submission to the Ministry of Railways.
